ESA Ocean Colour Climate Change Initiative

ESA's Climate Change Initiative programme (CCI) aims at producing stable, long-term satellite-based Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) data products for climate modellers and researchers. In this frame, the OC_CCI focuses on the Ocean Colour ECV encompassing water leaving radiance in the visible domain, derived chlorophyll concentration and inherent optical properties and utilises data archives from Copernicus, ESA, NASA and NOAA. The OC-CCI project is currently in its third phase which started in April 2019.

Involved in this project since 2010, HYGEOS is in charge of the atmospheric corrections using the Polymer algorithm.
